Terms of Service

Last updated: 10 August 2026

1. Who you are contracting with

TeachersPet ("TeachersPet", "we", "us") provides an AI-assisted marking, learner tracking and reporting service for teachers and schools. By creating an account or using the service, you enter into an agreement with TeachersPet.

2. Acceptance of these terms

By ticking the agreement box at sign-up, or by continuing to use TeachersPet, you agree to these terms and to our POPIA Privacy Notice. You confirm that you are of legal age and, if you sign up on behalf of a school or organisation, that you are authorised to bind that organisation.

3. Your account

You must provide accurate information (including your name, email address and ID or passport number used to verify that the seven-day free trial is claimed only once per teacher) and keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account.

4. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • use TeachersPet unlawfully, fraudulently or to send spam;
  • upload content you do not have the right to upload, or that infringes intellectual property rights;
  • upload unlawful, hateful or harmful content, or attempt to generate such content;
  • interfere with the security of the service (malware, probing, scraping, circumventing limits);
  • reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the service; or
  • upload learner information you are not permitted to process in your role as an educator.

5. AI-generated marks and outputs

TeachersPet uses artificial intelligence to read handwriting, suggest marks and generate feedback and reports. AI outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete. Suggested marks are recommendations only: you remain the marker of record and are responsible for reviewing, correcting and approving every mark before it is used for any academic or reporting purpose. You are responsible for the scripts, memoranda and prompts you submit, for having the right to submit them, and for how you use the outputs. TeachersPet is not a substitute for professional or regulated judgement.

We may remove or restrict content, filter or refuse outputs, and suspend accounts where content breaches these terms. Rights holders may contact us to request the removal of infringing content; repeat infringement will result in termination.

6. Intellectual property

We retain ownership of TeachersPet, its software, documentation and branding, and grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service within your chosen plan. You retain ownership of the content you upload and grant us a limited licence to host and process it solely to provide the service to you.

7. Plans, payment and subscriptions

TeachersPet offers a seven-day free trial, a Basic plan at R249 per user per month, a Premium plan at R449 per user per month (with annual options), and tailored organisational plans. Each payment covers one billing period. Cancelling stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for.

Card payments are processed securely by Yoco, our South African payment provider. TeachersPet never receives or stores your card details. See our Refund Policy.

8. Service availability

We work to keep TeachersPet available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free performance. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access for material breach of these terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. You may cancel at any time. On termination you may export your data for 30 days, after which it may be deleted or anonymised.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential or special damages, including loss of profits, data or goodwill. Nothing excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury where the law does not allow it. You indemnify us against claims arising from your content, unlawful use, or breach of these terms.

11. General

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction. You may not assign your rights without our consent; we may assign in connection with a merger or acquisition. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond its reasonable control. We may update these terms and will post the updated version here.
